I was dismayed today to find that the plug is being pulled on Stratos TV. Given its diverse and open broadcasting this is indeed a giant leap backwards as far as the TV media is concerned in this nation.
Devastating that programmes outside the media norm in this nation such as Bombers Blog and Citizen A won’t receive the nationwide TV exposure they did.
Coincidence I wonder, if Bomber is first banned from RNZ and now the TV platform for these shows is now disappearing.

A real shame. Watched quite a bit on Stratos.

Stratos has finished thanks to a lack of imagination by NZ on Air who refuse to change funding requirements that use digital signal and not analogue signals which is extra questionable because analogue is being switched off.

Triangle however continues and Citizen A is back on air 19th January.

NZ on Air is a mindless bureaucratic automaton of the brothel that is “government” (if you can dignify them with that title) and the nation’s beloved pimp minister John Key. He and his entourage of sleaze are prepared to prostitute this once chaste and virgin nation to the highest sleaziest bidder. What do you expect when National launched and proliferated a manifesto during the election with the zeal of someone with terminal diarrhoea, a campaign devoid of any policy and substance for the national vision of screwing over beneficiaries and prostituting the nation’s assets. The crux of the matter is that the government has no commitment to an open independent voice like that of Stratos. A paltry $1.2M is too much to contribute even though Stratos was arguably the nation’s only really public TV service and should henceforth be entitled to public funding.
As you posted good riddance to Kim Jong Il on your blog, beware that the pimp minister of this country has nothing but the integrity of the former. Given that the “evil empire” of the communist bloc had fallen due to the supposedly victorious capitalist bloc, we particularly in the west find ourselves living in a situation similar to the former, when we the people find ourselves having to swallow nothing but the media diarrhoea of the corporate politburo. Blue M&M, red M&M, they all wind up the same colour in the end.
I followed your programming early on Stratos and was filled with hope that finally I heard a voice out there speaking the issues that those around me and I would speak of. However with the closure of Stratos and later the analogue signal, how is your refreshing and hopeful view point going to be expressed in future? Only via the internet? I suppose until recently I was a person content on keeping my mouth shut and sitting on my hands, tolerating the garbage the government and corporate world around me were engineering. However the closing of a diverse open independent voice like that of Stratos is a turning point for me. I have tasted this refreshing nectar and won’t tolerate the trite the government and corporate bed fellows have destined to serve us.
I hope you can extend your vocal war on news into action to preserve this mouthpiece of democracy, which is Stratos. Their diverse news and media coverage along with yours is both deserving and necessary for this increasingly parched landscape.
