On Saturday one of the vessels in the deep sea oil protest flotilla was boarded by police and the skipper - Elvis Teddy - arrested.

He was in the Tauranga court this morning. Down at the strand (just round the corner from where Tiki Taane was arrested) the flotilla crews, local residents and Hone Harawira gathered for a peaceful protest overlooked by a group of sheepish looking police. Greenpeace was supported at the protest by local Green Party members.

Why are the NZ Navy and Police being used against peaceful Kiwi protesters in Kiwi waters?! The smell of oil does strange things to democracy.
