Big Day Out bans Australian Flag?

You know things can’t be well in your society when your national flag becomes a rallying call for bigots, but then again this is Australia….

Big Day Out says it hasn't banned Australian flag
SYDNEY - The organisers of the Big Day Out rock festival say they have not banned the Australian flag at Sydney, but they do want concert-goers to leave it at home this Thursday.
News Ltd today reported that organisers of the Big Day Out at Homebush said they would confiscate any flag or bandanna featuring the national symbol at the gates. Event organiser Ken West was quoted as saying fans' behaviour last year in the wake of the Cronulla riots and the recent ethnic violence at the Australian Open tennis tournament had forced his hand.

"The Australian flag was being used as gang colours. It was racism disguised as patriotism and I'm not going to tolerate it," Mr West said.

Is it racist to sneer at, stereotype, ridicule and constantly deride Australians, the British, the Americans ..... and whoever else you feel superior to.

As they I doubt they ever give NZ a first thought it probably doesn’t matter.

Except the ethnic violence at the ATO had nothing to do with Aussie "patriots" and everything to do with immigrants who couldn't put their old world divisions behind them.

And if we're going to be judging a flag by the lowest scum that choose to wave it, then what does that say about the Tino Rangatiratanga flag eh? Seen plenty of patched up pillars of society waving that thing...

Yes, political statements tend to lose their validity when a fat dole-bludger with convictions and a gang affiliation is delivering them...

Oh settle petal – I’ll make you a deal princess, if Australians, Americans and the Brits stop invading the rest of the planet, we will stop sneering at them ok?

Perhaps you just doesn't know what happened at last years BDO, Anon, did you know that at last years BDO, groups of White Uber Australians (yummy, my favourte kind of Australian), marched around BDO forcing punters to either pledge loyalty to the Australian flag or get the bash. It was from that warped nationalism, the BDO organizers wanted to avoid. Your point got lost on me however when you got all racist with this little gem…

R-i-g-h-t could you please just detail for us all, when Maori last approached a NZer with the Tino Rangatiratanga and told them to either pledge allegiance to the flag or get the bash.
